Founded in 2008 in Bowling Green, Kentucky, they focus on a vision to build unique, innovative Spirit brands. And we’re lucky they did. They’ve developed a tidy range of Bourbons and Whiskey brands to fit every palate and price point — including Calumet, Lexington Bird Dog, and Sam Houston — in partnership with Bardstown Bourbon.
Named after a famous Kentucky farm known for producing eight Kentucky Derby winners — two of which that went on to with the Triple Crown — Western Spirit’s top-of-the-line Spirit brand is Calumet Bourbon. Their latest release is Calumet Farm 14 Year Old Single Rack Black Bourbon Whiskey. It’s pulled from a single rack in the warehouse. The entire first run is only nineteen barrels. The mash bill is 74% corn, 18% rye, and 8% malted barley. And after fourteen years of pristine aging, it would be a shame to chill filter it or add an artificial coloring, so they do not do it. Instead, they bottle it at 48.1% ABV so you can taste every lovely drop.
